Rinu Oduala, a prominent Nigerian activist, has expressed the view that individuals cannot maintain a close friendship with their ex-partners while in a romantic relationship.
In a post on X, previously known as Twitter, Rinu urged those in relationships who refer to their exes as their best friends to reconsider their stance and avoid self-deception.
She wrote, “Your former sex partners can’t be your current friends or even your best friends if you are in a relationship. Can we stop deceiving ourselves this year??”

Rinu has served on the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution regarding police brutality and was a key figure during the EndSars protests in Nigeria.
