Nigerians are grieving the untimely death of a promising young filmmaker, Olaoluwa Dare Lawal, who tragically lost his life during a film production in Ogun State.
According to reports, Olaoluwa drowned on Saturday, May 30, while working on a movie at a shoot location in Shimawa, a community in Ogun State. Eyewitnesses and social media users familiar with the incident revealed that the river involved is believed to be approximately 30 meters deep.
The devastating news has sparked outrage and sorrow among friends, colleagues, and followers of the late creative, many of whom have taken to social media to express their condolences and demand accountability.
As of now, the production company behind the film shoot has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
“The said production outfit is even yet to release a statement on the tragic loss of life of the young artist (anthey invited as the set designer of the production. Since saturday night (30th May, 2025) up till now Thursday (5th June, 2025).”
“The negligence on the part of a Gospel film production outfit taking crew to a Simawa location close to a river (30m deep) at 9pm night to shoot has claimed the life of a young creative promising Art director, SFX Artist, Set designer.”
