A frustrated woman has taken to a relationship platform to express her dismay over what she calls the “double standards” in her marriage, after her husband’s serial infidelity was repeatedly ignored, yet her single act of revenge triggered a family crisis.
According to her account, she has been married to her husband for several years and endured numerous instances of his cheating, some of which resulted in her contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) from him.
Despite this, she said she remained silent for years, hoping he would change. However, in a moment of frustration and pain, she decided to cheat once, an act she admitted was meant to make him feel what she had been going through.
To her shock, her one-time action has since led to a series of family meetings, intense backlash, and judgment from relatives who had previously remained silent during her husband’s repeated betrayals.
She questioned why society is quick to condemn women for the same actions it often excuses in men, and asked why her pain and endurance were overlooked until she made a single misstep.
Her story has stirred heated conversations online, with many weighing in on the unequal standards in relationships and the consequences of revenge cheating.
She wrote …
“Hi Auntie Momoza. Please keep me anonymous. My husband cheated on me 12 times that I know of. He made 2 kids outside our marriage and we are taking care of them. I got at least 4 STIs from him. No family meeting was called and I stayed. I cheated on him once…just once and I used protection. We have been attending family meetings every week since then and I’m called names. I didn’t fall pregnant; I didn’t get him sick…nothing. Why am I being vilified and he’s not?”
