- A Nigerian woman has shared her distressing situation on social media following her husband’s disappearance and escalating family conflict.
- @h_okolobe, formerly Twitter, reported her husband, Believe Ubara, missing since January 19, 2024, after being kidnapped at their home in Asaba, Delta State.
A Nigerian woman identified as @h_okolobe on social media has shared a heartbreaking account of her husband’s unresolved kidnapping and the bitter family conflict that followed.
According to her, her husband, Mr. Believe Ubara, vanished on January 19, 2024, after being abducted by gunmen at the gate of their residence in Asaba, Delta State. The incident was reportedly witnessed by their security guard, who immediately informed her.
She disclosed that the kidnappers demanded and were paid a ₦700,000 ransom, yet her husband was never released and has not been heard from since.
“My husband (Mr. Believe Ubara) has been missing neither seen nor heard from since January 19, 2024. He was kidnapped by armed men one unfortunate Friday evening at the entrance to our home. The incident was witnessed by our security man, who alerted me.”
“Calls came in from the kidnappers, and a ransom of ₦700,000 was paid, yet they refused to release my husband 😥. I have gone to numerous places seeking solutions, with help from family. Yet, there has been no word.”
While still grappling with the trauma of his disappearance, she revealed a new distressing twist: her mother-in-law, who initially came to stay with them after the incident, is now claiming ownership of their home, which her missing husband built and furnished.
“It is so hard to believe that a grandmother would force her only grandchildren and daughter-in-law out of their home—all because of greed”
“A house that was fully built and furnished by my husband. She and her other children came into our home with nothing but their clothes. Now, they’re claiming ownership.”
Efforts to resolve the matter through traditional means have reportedly failed. The woman claimed that her mother-in-law has ignored multiple summons to appear before the traditional court in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, where her husband hails from.
“My mother-in-law has been summoned several times to the king’s palace court in my husband’s hometown, Ozoro, Isoko North LGA, Delta State, to explain why she is taking over all of my husband’s property. She has bluntly refused to comply.”
As the search for Mr. Ubara continues, his wife is appealing to the public and authorities for assistance—not only to locate her missing husband but also to reclaim their family’s home and protect her children’s future.
