Social critic Vincent Martins Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), has responded to the news of singer Darlington Okoye, also called Speed Darlington, being held by the police for allegedly defaming his fellow artist Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy.

His lawyers have indicated that he might be in jail during Christmas and New Year. VDM mentioned that he has looked into the situation regarding Akpi, which is the singer’s nickname.

VDM recounted his arrest and the fact that judges were not present to address his case. This often results in the accused remaining in police custody for an extended period. He highlighted that these issues come up when there are plans to detain the accused for longer.

The 30-year-old social analyst held Speed Darlington responsible for his negative remarks about Burna Boy. GistLover had earlier reported that Akpi suggested Burna Boy had a connection with American rapper P. Diddy before winning his Grammy Award.

VDM advised Akpi to be more careful, stating that this situation serves as a warning for anyone looking to slander others, including himself. He also criticized the Last Last singer for overreacting to Akpi’s arrest, especially since he promotes a message against oppression. However, VDM acknowledged that the singer may have lost some opportunities due to Akpi’s ongoing personal attacks.

VDM mentioned that he has talked to some individuals, and it seems Speed Darlington might be released tomorrow, Thursday, December 18, 2024, if a judge approves his bail.
