Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbugbemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodu Blvck, has shed light on an incident that occurred during his appearance at the 2025 Headies Awards.
At the 17th edition of the Headies, held on April 27, 2025, Odumodu Blvck was honored with the prestigious Next Rated Award. When he stepped onto the stage accompanied by his crew to accept the award, the rapper began delivering a lengthy acceptance speech. Midway through, however, his microphone was abruptly turned off. Despite this, he remained on stage, determined to finish what he had to say.
In a post shared days later on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the “Dog Eat Dog” hitmaker explained what really transpired. He claimed his mic was muted because he was speaking about Jesus. As a proud Christian, he expressed disappointment that such a message was seemingly censored.
Odumodu went on to suggest that if his speech had centered on a political figure—such as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu—he wouldn’t have been interrupted.
Nonetheless, he appreciated the Headies organizers for eventually restoring his microphone, allowing him to continue spreading his message of faith.

I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES, RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC BACK ON TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL. JESUS IS KING. HE IS BEFORE NOW AND FOREVER. – INDUSTRY MACHINE.”
