Super Eagles newcomer Felix Agu to remain at Bremen despite Premier League interest

Werder Bremen fullback Felix Agu will remain at the Bundesliga club for the 2025/26 season, despite reported interest from multiple Premier League sides, according to Sport Bild.

The 25-year-old, who recently committed his international future to Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has opted not to activate the €10 million release clause in his current contract.

The German outlet did not specify the reasons behind Agu’s decision to stay.

After enduring years of injury setbacks and inconsistent form, Agu enjoyed a resurgence in the 2024/25 campaign.

He opened the season with a goal in a 2-2 draw against Augsburg, his first Bundesliga goal in over three years, and went on to register a personal best of three goals, including a long-range strike against Holstein Kiel on Matchday 27.

While Agu has drawn interest from clubs in England, it remains unclear if Werder Bremen’s recent managerial change played a role in his decision to remain in Germany.

The former Germany U21 international’s commitment to Bremen comes as he eyes a fresh chapter with Nigeria’s national team, having been called up for the just concluded Unity Cup mini-tournament in London.
