“Stop judging me just because I choose to express myself through dancing”

  • Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has defended his love for dancing, stating that his joyous public expressions should not be interpreted as a lack of competence in governance.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has addressed ongoing criticism surrounding his frequent public dancing, emphasizing that it has no impact on his performance as a leader.

Speaking at a recent event, Governor Adeleke responded to those who mock his love for dancing, stating that his joyful displays are a personal form of expression, not a reflection of his seriousness or capacity to govern.

“Stop judging me just because I choose to express myself through dancing. It is my joy, my freedom, and an essential part of who I am. If it brings me happiness and harms no one, then there is no reason it should be condemned,” he said.

Often referred to as the “Dancing Governor,” Adeleke pointed out that several Nigerian politicians have also been seen dancing, yet he seems to face disproportionate criticism.

“Sanwo-Olu is dancing. Everybody is dancing. Even Baba [President Bola Tinubu] is dancing. So, there is no law that says just because you are a governor, you can’t dance,” he said.

The governor urged the public and political analysts to assess his leadership based on his accomplishments and policy decisions, not his personal hobbies.

“Judge me by my governance, not my hobbies,” he concluded.
