President Tinubu swears in NNPC Limited board


President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in the newly appointed board and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), formally inaugurating the team seven weeks after their appointment on April 2, 2025.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the President presiding over the brief but symbolic event.

The ceremony featured the induction of Ahmadu Kida, the board’s Non-Executive Chairman, and Bashir Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, among other board members.

Following the ceremony, President Tinubu departed to attend the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit at the State House Banquet Hall.

The 11-member board comprises individuals drawn from all six geopolitical zones and relevant government ministries.

  • Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu – Representing the North West

  • Yusuf Usman – North East

  • Babs Omotowa – North Central, and former MD of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG)

  • Austin Avuru – South-South, Non-Executive Director

  • David Ige – South-West

  • Henry Obih – South-East

  • Lydia Jafiya – Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance (Ministry’s representative)

  • Aminu Ahmed – Representative of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources

Top government officials, including Finance Minister Wale Edun, Information Minister Mohammed Idris, and Petroleum Minister Heineken Lokpobiri, were in attendance. Tinubu later proceeded to the APC National Summit at the State House Banquet Hall.
