- Peter Okoye, a former member of the P-Square duo, has publicly criticized his brothers, Paul and Jude, for attempting to damage his image during their ongoing legal battle.
- Peter responded to a court claim by Jude Okoye’s lawyer accusing him of lying in a statement submitted to the EFCC in a royalty-related case.
- The singer, furious, accused his brothers’ publicist of orchestrating a smear campaign to make him appear dishonest.
Peter Okoye, one-half of the now-defunct P-Square music group, has taken to social media to publicly accuse his brothers Paul and Jude Okoye of deliberately trying to damage his reputation amid their ongoing legal battle.
In a series of Instagram Story posts, Peter reacted strongly to a recent claim made by Jude Okoye’s lawyer during court proceedings, where it was allegedly stated that Peter lied in a statement submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding a royalties-related case.
The visibly frustrated singer alleged that the brothers’ publicist was behind a calculated campaign to portray him as dishonest. Refusing to remain silent, Peter declared that he would no longer be the “bigger person,” as he had once vowed.
“Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything for me to look like a liar. I am not May D or Cynthia Morgan; I am Peter Okoye, the one and only the rock/okwute of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail.
Una thief abi una no thief?” he wrote.
Peter also drew a connection between his resolve to speak out and the tragic case of late singer Mohbad. He explained that witnessing how Mohbad’s story unfolded made him decide never to stay silent about wrongdoing again.
“After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one. And that’s exactly what led to this whole madness. Simply because I was trying to be the bigger person! Omo! Never again.”
Reflecting on the much-celebrated 2021 P-Square reunion, Peter claimed he was manipulated into the reconciliation. “Only to find out that I was actually used in the whole November 2021 reunion! But since we’re already in court, I’ll wait for the right time to tell what really went down,” he said.
Concluding his posts with a strong accusation, Peter questioned his brothers’ integrity: “Family doesn’t steal from family. Una thief abi una no thief?”
The emotional outburst has reignited public discussion about the longtime tensions within the Okoye family and the future of the once-iconic duo.
