Old videos of Mmesoma’s controversial 2023 UTME result have resurfaced online following the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) recent admission of a technical error that affected the scores of thousands of candidates.
Mmesoma had previously claimed she scored 362 in her JAMB exam, presenting what she said was a result slip printed from the official portal. However, following an investigation, the board accused her of result forgery. Under pressure, she admitted to inflating her actual score from 249 to 362.
Now, in light of JAMB’s recent acknowledgment of a scoring error—which reportedly affected candidates, particularly in Lagos and the South-East—Nigerians are revisiting her case. The board had announced that over 1.5 million students scored below 200 in the latest UTME, triggering widespread complaints and online confusion.
After an internal review, it was discovered that a technical fault had impacted many results. This revelation has led to renewed scrutiny of Mmesoma’s case, with some suggesting her result might have been altered by the system and that her claims may have been valid after all.
One online user, @dangbanamanager, expressed concern, saying:
“So, it’s possible they tampered with this girl’s result from the back end? JAMB has proven time and again that it can’t be trusted with something as critical as an exam that determines the future of thousands. A child has already taken their own life because of this.”
