Obasa storms Lagos assembly, seizes speaker’s office

The ousted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has arrived at the Assembly Complex accompanied by security personnel.

According to reports, Obasa was escorted by over 11 police officers and proceeded directly to the Speaker’s Office. His arrival comes amid reports that the security details of the newly appointed Speaker have been withdrawn.

More details to be revealed soon…

Meanwhile, Gistreel reported that sources reveal that Obasa’s security details have been restored, while those assigned to Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda—his former deputy and the current Speaker—have been withdrawn.

Although Meranda, who made history as the first female Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, has not officially resigned, her fate appears to have been sealed over the weekend following the intervention of key All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders.

Among those involved in resolving the leadership dispute were former APC National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Osun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Commissioner for Justice Dr. Muiz Banire, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and several lawmakers.
