Nigerian singer Rema becomes first African artiste to get certification in Norway

Afrobeats artist Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, has achieved yet another remarkable milestone with his record-setting track “Calm Down.”

This popular song, featuring renowned American singer and actress Selena Gomez, continues to garner significant attention, recently surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube.

On Monday, December 16, Album Talks announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Rema’s “Calm Down” has been certified in Norway, marking a historic first for an African artist in that country.

The post stated, “Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ featuring Selena Gomez has now been certified Platinum in Norway. Rema becomes the first African artist to receive a certification in the country.”

With this achievement, Rema adds yet another accolade to his impressive repertoire for 2024, which also includes his recent headline performance at the inaugural Afro Jam festival in Japan. Since its release on February 11, 2022, as part of his debut studio album “Raves and Roses,” “Calm Down” has remained one of Rema’s most celebrated global hits.
