Veteran musician, Timi Dakolo recounts how he met his wife, Busola, as he speaks on how his wife used to be embarrassed whenever he picked her up with the branded Picanto he won from Idols.
The singer behind the hit song “Iyawo mi” shared that he first met his wife at church, where she initially turned down his romantic advances.
However, undeterred, he continued to pursue her.
He recalled that she would often feel embarrassed when he arrived to pick her up in the branded Picanto he had won as the winner of the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007.
Timi Dakolo said …
“I met my wife in the church. I went to her and asked her to be my date for a ball. She gave me her number but wasn’t picking up the phone when I called. I kept going to the area hoping to see her again. Then I saw her one day and I asked her why was she not picking my calls and she said her phone got stolen.
“I sympathised with her and we became friends. I started developing feelings for her and she wanted to friend-zone me but I refused. I suffered to win her love. I was taking her to work to and fro. At one time, she used to be embarrassed whenever I picked her up with the branded Picanto I won from Nigerian Idols. I said, ‘Okay, don’t worry. I will shock you. Don’t look down on me.’ And I did.”
The singer tied the knot with Busola in 2012, and their union has been blessed with three beautiful children.
