A Nigerian man has sparked online buzz after sharing a phone conversation with GTBank’s customer service, questioning the arrest of online personality VeryDarkMan.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the man expressed outrage over reports that VeryDarkMan was detained shortly after visiting a GTBank branch in Abuja with his mother to report suspicious deductions from her account.
Although CCTV footage later surfaced showing VeryDarkMan leaving the bank before his arrest, the bank continues to face mounting criticism from the public, who suspect it may have played a role in the incident.
In the viral audio, the man can be heard confronting the bank’s customer representative:
“I didn’t call to ask for any service, I called to ask you a question. Why did your bank arrest VeryDarkMan, what did he do?”
He went on to express his frustration:
“I’ll come to your bank and close my account. I’m not banking with you again. Someone came to your bank to make a complaint, and your bank in Abuja arrested him for no reason and beat him like a thief.”

The customer service agent, caught off guard, failed to provide a direct response, and the clip has since gone viral with many Nigerians adding their voices to the controversy.
