Madueke bags brace as Chelsea thrash Legia Warsaw 3-0

Chelsea secure a 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie at the Polish Army Stadium.

The Blues’ clinical display in front of a raucous home crowd has all but sealed their place in the semi-finals, leaving Legia with a mountain to climb in the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

The match began with Legia Warsaw feeding off the energy of their passionate supporters, pressing high and testing Chelsea’s resolve.

However, the visitors weathered the early storm and struck first just after halftime.

Tyrique George broke the deadlock in the 49th minute silencing the home faithful and shifted momentum firmly in Chelsea’s favour.

Eight minutes later, Noni Madueke doubled the lead, capitalizing on a defensive error to fire a low shot into the bottom corner.

The winger wasn’t done, adding a third in the 74th minute after a swift counter-attack orchestrated by Sancho.

Despite a missed penalty from Nkunku moments earlier, Chelsea’s ruthlessness shone through, with Madueke tapping in his second to seal the rout.
