A Nigerian lawyer has taken to social media to express his outrage after being fined ₦24,000 by the Lagos State government for briefly stopping his car by the roadside.

Sharing his experience on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter), the lawyer, identified by his handle @MalachyOdo1, recounted how he was forced to pull over upon hearing an unusual noise coming from his vehicle.

According to him, he had just stopped to inspect the engine when he was promptly issued a fine for roadside parking, despite only pausing for a few moments to address the mechanical concern.

The incident has sparked conversation online, with many users weighing in on the rigidity of traffic enforcement in the state.

He wrote:

“You park by the roadside to check out a noise coming from the engine area and the next thing you get is a fine! Lagos IGR no go kpai person.”
