Key figures from the Omuma Local Government Area in Rivers State have condemned Dr. George Nweke, a former Head of Service in the state.

Their disapproval comes after Nweke made startling claims about Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

At a press event in Port Harcourt, Maximus Nwafor, leader of the Concerned Omuma Stakeholders, expressed his frustration with Nweke’s comments, accusing him of trying to mislead the community.

He urged the public to disregard Nweke’s allegations, noting that the former HoS was neither part of the local government’s inner caucus nor the state caucus.

“We are saddened that Dr. George Nweke has allowed himself to be used as a tool for misinformation,” Nwafor said. “The claims he made against the governor are false and baseless. We fully support and stand with Governor Fubara.”

Nwafor, who previously served as the state’s Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, alleged that Nweke had, until recently, sought financial assistance from the governor and his Chief of Staff.

“We are aware that after his resignation, Dr. Nweke reached out to the governor and the Chief of Staff for financial aid. When things did not go as he wanted, he resorted to making unfounded claims,” he stated.
