In other news, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has made a dramatic return to her constituency in Kogi Central, arriving by helicopter in Okehi Local Government Area, despite a state-enforced ban on rallies and public gatherings.
Her entrance generated excitement among her supporters, who turned out in large numbers to welcome her. However, this event occurred in violation of a newly established curfew in the area.
Hon. Amoka Eneji, the Chairman of Okehi LGA, had declared the emergency curfew earlier in the day, citing the need to ensure peace and order amid the ban on political rallies.
He stated that the curfew would limit movement and gatherings, warning that violators would face legal repercussions.
“Anyone found gathering or walking around restricted areas without permission from the relevant authorities will be arrested and charged to court. This is in line with the directive of the state government and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police,” the statement read in part.
“My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our PEACEFUL Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ododo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible,” she wrote.
In spite of the restrictions, a substantial crowd had assembled to demonstrate their support for Akpoti-Uduaghan, waving placards and chanting in solidarity.
On Tuesday morning, the senator posted on Facebook, warning that if violence disrupted the Sallah celebrations in her constituency, the Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and former Governor Yahaya Bello would be held accountable.
