A Nigerian influencer has taken a swipe at Nigerian banks after his UK bank informed him that he would receive £50 simply for being a customer.
Sharing the news on his X page (formerly Twitter), the user, @Wizarab, revealed that his bank would credit him automatically next month without requiring any action from him. He also pointed out that over 12 million other customers would receive the same benefit without any hurdles.
In his post, @Wizarab wrote: “My bank in the UK is sending me £50 next month as a thank-you for banking with them. I don’t have to do anything. They will credit me next month. £50 each to over 12 million Nationwide users—that’s over £600 million. Thank you.”
Taking a jab at Nigerian banks, he criticized them for prioritizing deductions over customer appreciation.
“Nigerian banks are only good at collecting card maintenance and account maintenance fees while declaring huge profits,” he added.
His post quickly went viral, sparking debates among social media users, with many sharing their frustrations and experiences with local banks.
