“EFCC Still in Possession of Verydarkman’s Phone and Car” – Lawyer Gives Update –

  • Deji Adeyanju, lawyer for activist Verydarkman, provided an update on the release of his client by the EFCC.
  • The anti-graft agency released Verydarkman five days after arrest and detention.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has provided an official update following the release of his client, social media activist Verydarkman, from EFCC custody.

The online commentator regained his freedom on Wednesday, five days after he was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While the exact reason for his arrest remains unclear, his detention generated widespread attention online.

In a recent statement, Adeyanju clarified that Verydarkman’s release came without any bail conditions attached. However, he revealed that EFCC is still holding on to the activist’s mobile phone and car.

Interestingly, despite the circumstances, the lawyer expressed admiration for the current EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede. According to Adeyanju, he still respects the leadership of the agency, describing the chairman as someone he holds in high regard.

The update has sparked fresh conversations across social media, with many calling for transparency regarding the reason behind Verydarkman’s detention and the continued confiscation of his personal belongings.

The lawyer wrote …

“Despite everything that has happened, i still like the EFCC Chairman. And there was no condition for VDM’s bail. I was the one who applied for his bail and I made an undertaking to produce him anytime he is needed. His phone and car still with EFCC.

This is a stand alone appreciation post to all RATELS worldwide. You guys are not just a movement, you are one of the most potent agitators against oppression and tyranny in Nigeria today. Thank you everyone for all the protest, posts online and never staying quiet. You are the real heroes. Now to those who said VDM’s arrest was a distraction, they can go ahead and rescue Nigeria from Tinubu’s government. There’s no more distraction.”
