Veteran Nigerian rapper and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem, has sparked national conversation after boldly describing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the “worst president Nigeria has ever had.”

The outspoken rapper made the remark during an appearance on News Central TV, addressing the recent controversy surrounding the banning of his protest song Tell Your Papa by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). The politically charged track, which critiques Nigeria’s leadership, has stirred conversations about censorship and artistic freedom.

“The 1999 Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom of expression in Section 39… Article 19 of both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) acknowledges the importance of freedom of expression for democracy, human rights, and the rule of law,” he said.

Speaking directly to recent statements by Seyi Tinubu—who praised his father as Nigeria’s greatest president—Eedris offered a sharp rebuttal.

“Seyi, I differ. Your dad is not the greatest president, as far as Nigeria is concerned right now,” Abdulkareem said.

“You look more perfect in silence than when you speak. I would advise you to hand over the microphone to the MC next time. Tinubu may be the best father to you, but he is the worst president ever in Nigeria,” he added.

Abdulkareem emphasized that his criticism is not personal but stems from the growing hardships Nigerians are enduring—rising hunger, unemployment, and insecurity.

Known for using his music as a tool for activism, the Jaga Jaga crooner has a long history of challenging political leadership in Nigeria. Despite being banned on traditional airwaves, Tell Your Papa has gone viral online, with many Nigerians applauding Abdulkareem for echoing the frustrations of ordinary citizens.
