Popular Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about a phase in his life where he engaged in womanizing, describing it as a brief but transformative period.

In an honest conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the actor who made the switch from engineering to acting revealed that while he may not fit everyone’s definition of a womanizer, he went through a phase of romantic exploration before marriage.

“Maybe there was a time in my life I was. Definitions would differ, but in that definition, maybe there was a period in my life that I explored. So, perhaps.” he said when asked directly.

Looking back, Etim-Effiong described those experiences as valuable learning moments.

“Yes, they were periods of learning for me. If I learned, then they were good periods.” he added.

He warned young men who see being a “player” as attractive, noting that habits formed before marriage could easily spill over into married life with damaging effects.

“I tell young people a lot that it is cool to be a player, but if you develop that habit or lifestyle, you won’t automatically change overnight,” he said.

The actor emphasized that unresolved patterns in dating can harm long-term relationships.

“When you marry, that muscle hasn’t been developed, so you encounter one challenge and you want to immediately jump… If you are the kind of person that before you got married it was easy for you to just walk away, keep different relationships, keep ladies on the string, that won’t change when you get married,” he cautioned.

Etim-Effiong’s candid admission has sparked conversations about maturity, personal growth, and the realities of romantic relationships.
