Samuel Chukwueze has openly described the 2024/25 campaign as one of the most difficult periods of his professional career.
The Nigerian forward cites personal underperformance and AC Milan’s collective failure to deliver results.
Speaking to Victor Modo, the Nigerian winger didn’t hold back: “Honestly, it’s one of the worst seasons of my professional career.
“I’m not going to lie, we didn’t win anything, I didn’t play much, even though I had the stats.”
Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, but struggled to secure consistent minutes amid managerial instability and recurring injury problems.
Despite high expectations, his impact was minimal as Milan endured a disastrous season, crashing out of the Champions League, exiting the Coppa Italia early and finishing eighth in Serie A, thus missing out on European football entirely.
“We crashed out of the Champions League, lost in the cup, fell short in the league, everything just went wrong,” he said.
“It was a tough season, with injuries, changing the coach, bringing in a new one. It was all upside down.”
Chukwueze, 26, did, however, express admiration for Milan’s passionate fanbase, praising their support through a bleak campaign:
“The Milan fans are some of the best in the world… they truly deserve better.”
“I hope next season will be much better in Milan, winning the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia and securing Champions League qualification to make up for everything.”
