Chelsea maintain pursuit of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey hero Jules Kounde

Chelsea remain actively engaged with the representatives of Jules Kounde amid growing speculation that Barcelona may be forced into summer sales to finance their transfer ambitions.

Kounde, who sealed Barcelona’s 32nd Copa del Rey title with a dramatic 116th-minute winner against Real Madrid, has earned his flowers within the club.

Nevertheless, financial pressures could see the Catalan giants entertain offers for key assets, and Chelsea are poised to take advantage.

According to TBR Football (via Barca News Network), Chelsea have maintained regular contact with Kounde’s camp since their initial pursuit in the summer of 2022, when the Frenchman ultimately chose Barcelona over Stamford Bridge.

Despite that setback, the Premier League side’s interest has remained persistent.

Arsenal are also monitoring Kounde’s situation closely and are reportedly prepared to offer €65 million to secure his services, a figure Chelsea would likely be willing to match should they decide to formalize their interest.

While Barcelona are considering reinforcement at right-back to provide Kounde with competition, club insiders deem his departure highly unlikely.

The 25-year-old has been a standout performer under Hansi Flick during the 2024/25 campaign, and there appears to be no immediate appetite within the club hierarchy to sanction his exit.
