- Canada issued 5,225 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency
- The draws reflect Canada’s focus on attracting skilled workers
- The initiative aims to support the growing economy
Canada’s recent Express Entry drawings resulted in a total of 5,225 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency.
The two rounds were held on March 3rd and 6th, 2025, with different categories and criteria.
These draws are intended to demonstrate Canada’s commitment to attracting qualified workers to help our rising economy.
According to Immigration News Canada (INC), Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) awarded 4,500 ITAs on March 6th, primarily to candidates who speak French.
The CRS cutoff score for this draw was 410. Prior to this, on March 3rd, 2025, the IRCC invited 725 candidates for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a higher CRS cutoff score of 667.
French language expedited admission draw is on March 6th
According to reports, on March 6th, 2025, IRCC performed a French-specific Express Entry draw and issued 4,500 invites to individuals with strong French language abilities. The CRS cutoff for this draw was 410.
This targeted applicants with level 7 French language, which remains an important criterion in Canada’s immigration policy.
As with past Express Entry drawings, a tie-breaking rule was in place to ensure that if numerous candidates had the same CRS score, the applicant with the earliest profile submission received the ITA.
Understanding the CRS score distribution
On March 3rd, 2025, the IRCC reported the following distribution of candidates in the Express Entry pool:
- 601-1200 CRS score range: 807 applicants
- 501-600 CRS score range: 23,075 applicants
- 451-500 CRS score range: 66,792 applicants
- 61,383 candidates with 401-450 CRS scores
With over 227,000 applicants in the pool, competition for ITAs is tight. Applicants looking to improve their chances should focus on increasing their CRS score through language competence, education, work experience, or provincial nominations.
Express entrance overview and success approach
Canada’s Express Entry system is an immigration method that processes applications for permanent residency in three categories: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
- To apply, individuals must build an online profile that includes information such as age, schooling, work experience, and language skills. Their CRS score determines their ranking, and the top candidates win ITAs in regular draws.
- Candidates seeking to improve their prospects of earning an ITA should focus on boosting their language exam scores (IELTS for English or TEF for French), gaining Canadian work experience, obtaining a provincial nomination, and upgrading their educational qualifications.
- Canada presently issues ITAs to talented individuals; the March 2025 drawings are intended to demonstrate the country’s commitment to attracting talent to meet its economic demands.
Interested candidates should stay informed about potential Express Entry improvements and take the required procedures to improve their prospects of obtaining permanent residency in Canada.
