Bayern Munich crash out of Champions League as Inter progress to semi-finals

Bayern Munich’s Champions League campaign came to a disappointing end on Tuesday night as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Inter Milan.

The Italian giants, advanced 4-3 on aggregate to the semi-finals.

Harry Kane gave Bayern hope early in the second half with a composed finish after receiving a pass from Leon Goretzka.

However, the lead was short-lived, as defensive lapses allowed Lautaro Martinez to equalise within six minutes, before Benjamin Pavard’s header from a Hakan Calhanoglu corner put Inter ahead.

Eric Dier restored parity with a looping header following a Leroy Sane cross, giving Bayern a late lifeline.

The Bundesliga champions pressed for a winner and Thomas Muller came close deep into stoppage time, but Yann Sommer denied him with a crucial save.

Despite the efforts of Kane and Dier, Bayern’s defensive frailties—particularly Kim Min-jae’s failure to challenge Pavard, proved costly.

Inter now advance to face Barcelona in the semi-finals, while Bayern shift focus back to domestic duties, beginning with a Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim this weekend.
