Comedian and Nollywood producer AY Makun has expressed pride in Africa’s representation at the 2025 Qatar Economic Forum (QEF), particularly applauding Nigerian billionaire Tony Elumelu for flying the continent’s flag high.

In a post shared on social media, AY reflected on his experience attending the prestigious event, stating it was an honour to witness Elumelu’s contributions on such a global platform.

“I felt so proud as a Nigerian to have been part of the Qatar Economic Forum and to see @tonyoelumelu representing Africa so positively on such a prestigious platform.

AY also voiced anticipation for upcoming sessions at the forum focused on sports and entertainment, hoping they will help challenge the lingering negative stereotypes about Africa.

The Qatar Economic Forum, currently ongoing in Doha until Friday, has gathered over 1,500 global influencers across government, finance, tech, and policy to discuss global development and business trends.

During a panel session, UBA chairman Tony Elumelu emphasized the critical role of intra-South cooperation, especially in trade and financial systems, highlighting Africa’s youthful potential as a reason for increased investment in the region.

“Africa is full of young, energetic people. It is in the best interest of the world to invest in Africa so we can prosper together,” Elumelu said.
