Nollywood actor and comedian, AY Makun, has addressed rumors of shading female colleagues following his outcry over lack of support from male colleagues.
Gistreel recalls that the comedian, who recently premiered his movie ‘The Waiter’, took to social media to express his disappointment over the lack of support from his male colleagues.
However, AY Makun’s post sparked reactions online, fueling speculation of shading Nollywood actresses over their recent groundbreaking milestones.
Meanwhile , AY Makun has addressed the speculation via a tweet on X (formerly Twitter).
The father of two clarified that his post was not intended to shade Nollywood actresses who are winning in the industry, stating that they have his full support and encouragement.
Citing a lack of support from male colleagues, he expressed frustration over how they abandon movie sets they’re paid for, only to promote others.
His tweet reads,”And i repeat, “WEY TIN MAN DO MAN?” Begging your fellow male actors to join you in promoting your film shouldn’t be a big deal. Especially when i have always been doing the same for everyone. Do you know how frustrating it is to pay actors who end up promoting other films and abandoning the one that they are in… EVEN with signed contracts?”.
“My last tweet has nothing to do with the hardworking women who are winning in the industry as they all have direct my support and encouragement to date. MEN SHOULD ALSO SUPPORT MEN”.
