Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has moved quickly to allay fears over Bukayo Saka’s fitness after the winger limped off during the Gunners’ emphatic 4-0 win against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Saka, recently back from a three-month hamstring layoff, was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Ipswich full-back Leif Davis.
The tackle, which saw Davis’ studs rake down the back of Saka’s heels, resulted in a straight red card. Saka was later seen with his foot iced on the bench.
“He’s in a bit of pain,” Arteta admitted post-match. “But thankfully it doesn’t look anything too serious.”
The timing is critical for Arsenal, with Wednesday’s league clash against Crystal Palace and a high-stakes Champions League semifinal first leg against Paris Saint-Germain looming on April 29.
While Arteta confirmed Saka may require monitoring in the coming days, there’s no immediate concern over his availability.
“I didn’t see the tackle clearly, but the referee made the right call,” Arteta added.
