Army Apprehends kidnappers, rescues four victims in Delta


The Nigerian Army has apprehended a criminal gang of kidnappers and rescued four victims in Delta State.

This was made known in a statement by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, on Wednesday.

He noted that the victims were rescued from a hideout in Ugbolu Forest.

He stated that the soldiers, acting on credible intelligence, raided the location, engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, and overpowered the criminal gang.

According to the statement, the victims, who had been held captive for several days, were freed and promptly given medical attention before being reunited with their families.

The statement reads, “In a bold and decisive operation, troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued four kidnap victims during a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State, on Monday, December 9, 2024.

“Reports indicate that the victims had been held captive in the forest for several days, with the kidnappers demanding significant ransom amounts for their release. The swift and coordinated action of the troops thwarted the criminals’ plans and brought relief to the victims and their families.”
