Actor John Dumelo wins parliamentary election in Ghana

Prominent Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has emerged victorious in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.

According to Gistlover, Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), triumphed over the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He was officially announced as the winner of the parliamentary election conducted during the general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Dumelo secured his constituency with a total of 40,561 votes, while Lydia Alhassan received 27,377 votes.

It is noteworthy that Dumelo previously contested for the same constituency seat in 2020 but faced a narrow defeat against Alhassan.

Having commenced his acting career in 1991 while still a student, Dumelo has since featured in numerous films from both Gollywood and Nollywood.
