President Tinubu replaces Atuma with Nworgu as chairman


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revised his list of nominees for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) board, appointing Dr. Emeka Nworgu as chairman to replace Emeka Atuma.

In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President announced the replacement of all three initially nominated executive directors and added two new executive directors.

He also removed a board member, Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, while retaining Hon. Mark C. Okoye as the Commission’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

The updated board now comprises 16 members, one more than the original list.

Stanley Ohajuruka has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo. Toby Okechukwu now serves as the Executive Director of Projects, taking over from Obinna Obiekweihe.

Chief Sylvester Okonkwo assumes the role of Executive Director of Corporate Services, replacing Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.

The two additional Executive Directors without designated portfolios are Chidi Echeazu and Dr. Clifford Ogbede.

The President retained several nominees, including Barrister Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Hamma Adama Ali Kumo, Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Chief (Mrs.) Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.

All appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in the nominees, urging them to leverage their expertise and experience to fulfill the Commission’s mandate and advance the development of the South East region.
