A heated family conflict erupted after a young mother confronted her mother-in-law for offering water to her 5-month-old baby.
The woman shared her ordeal anonymously via a message to social media influencer @__Folarin__, seeking advice on whether her reaction was justified.
The mother explained that she noticed the incident while reviewing CCTV footage from her home after returning from work. The video allegedly showed her mother-in-law giving the baby a sip of pure water from a sachet she was drinking.
Alarmed and upset, the woman confronted her mother-in-law, expressing her displeasure and warning her to stay away from the child.
Her actions, however, have caused tension within the family. Her husband, siding with his mother, became angry and has since refused to eat, leaving the young mother feeling isolated and questioning her stance.
In her message, she asked:
“Hi. Pls doctors here, is it right for a baby to start taking water at 5 months old? I went to work yesterday and noticed on my CCTV that my mother-in-law was giving my daughter pure water she was drinking. I was furious and, in anger, insulted her and told her that she shouldn’t carry my child again. Now my hubby is mad at me and has refused to eat.”
The post has sparked widespread debate online, with netizens divided on the matter; many, however, condemned the woman for reacting harshly.
A social media user @Rhashydah wrote, “My dear you are mad as well. All of a sudden you all want to start forming unnecessary woke 😏 all in the name of what exactly 🤷🏽♀️. The same set of parents took care of us with what they had access to and we didn’t die,their parents did same as well. Insulting her is uncalled for.”
Another user @TadyJerry added, “You dey craze. Even if she was wrong, insulting her shows how weak your husband is. Dem no born you well make you insult my mama for this kind error. You go regret am. NONSENSE.”
