  • The mother expressed her distress over the decision to use DP and shared her concerns on their family WhatsApp group, bringing attention to a disturbing act.

A mother ignited a lively discussion in their family WhatsApp group after addressing her daughter, Favour, regarding her choice of a controversial singer, Speed Darlington, as her WhatsApp profile picture.

Clearly distressed by this decision, the mother utilized the family group to voice her apprehensions, drawing the attention of other relatives to what she deemed an alarming choice.

In her message, she included a screenshot of Favour’s profile featuring Speed Darlington’s image and began to inquire about her daughter’s reasoning behind selecting such a picture. The seriousness with which she approached the issue led to a vigorous exchange among group members.

She expressed that she had spent a significant amount of time contemplating what might have prompted her daughter to make this choice. Describing the situation as troubling, she sought the insights of other family members.

Partially speaking in Igbo, the mother remarked: “Girls in the house, please have you seen this photo Favour used as her DP? What do you people have to say about this kind of thing? Is it play or has another spirit taken over? Is this a demonic replica of Favour? What is this?! I want to understand. What will make a normal child not use a normal picture? I kept asking myself what has come over my daughter.”

Her reaction, a blend of concern and incredulity, quickly gained traction after Favour shared screenshots of the conversation and the ensuing responses on social media.

Internet users found the incident entertaining, with many expressing their views on the dramatic situation and drawing parallels to their own experiences with strict African parents.
