Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces a daunting challenge after confirming that both Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling will miss crucial upcoming matches due to injuries.
Saka, who was substituted just 24 minutes into Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace, is set for “many weeks” on the sidelines with a hamstring issue.
The 22-year-old England international has been instrumental for the Gunners this season, contributing five goals and ten assists in the Premier League.
Arteta described the situation as a “huge blow,” saying: “He’s obviously a big player for us. It’s going to be a really good exercise for us to think of ways to overcome another challenge because we’ve had a lot over the season.”
Adding to Arsenal’s woes, Sterling, on loan from Chelsea—has also been ruled out with a knee injury.
Arteta revealed that Sterling’s condition requires further tests but anticipates he will be unavailable “for weeks.”
Arsenal, currently third in the Premier League and six points behind leaders Liverpool, face Ipswich on December 27 and Brentford on January 1.
