Actress and content creator Ejiro Onojaife has expressed that despite the challenges and competitiveness of the Nigerian industry, she has successfully demonstrated her rightful place within it.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “Indeed, it is a tough and competitive industry. Like every other industry out there, it is tough coming into a space you aren’t familiar with. I had to quickly learn that nobody was going to offer me these roles on a platter.

“I had to put in the work. I jumped on as many monologue challenges as I could find, recreated scenes from my favourite movies, went to film school, made an acting reel, and constantly showed up for auditions.

“I have been able to show these producers and directors the stuff that I am made up of and what I’m capable of. I have been able to carve out a space in the industry by making sure that I execute every role I get like they would be my last.”Onojaife added that being a content creator and actress go hand-in-hand. “I do not feel the need to prioritise one over the other. At the end of the day, I’m getting the best of both worlds and I enjoy every moment I get to create and share myself with my audience.”

The actress also expressed her efforts to avoid allowing societal expectations to influence or dictate her actions.

“The audience will only know what I want them to know or find out,” she said.
