Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, has shared a deeply personal vow he made to God—to build 1,000 churches before his time on earth comes to an end.
Speaking during a recent sermon, the revered clergyman reflected on the early days of his ministry and revealed that he made the commitment long before he had any financial stability.
“Before I had the first bank account, I said, ‘Jesus, if you ever bless me, I want to be part of building new churches,’” he said.
He continued, “How many have heard that before? You’ve always heard everything.”
Highlighting the depth of his commitment, Oyedepo said his goal is to leave behind a visible legacy of service.
“I told Jesus, I don’t want to come to heaven without a thousand churches built in your name,” he stated, reaffirming his commitment to church growth and spiritual outreach.
The bishop also challenged members of his church to examine their own dedication to God’s work. Using practical examples, he pointed out how many have material resources that could serve the kingdom but choose not to use them.
“Some may even have buses that are doing nothing on Sunday, but they won’t bring them out. Because, ah, N2,000 per half litre,” he said. “If it’s in your heart, go put it in your heart.”
Encouraging the congregation to embrace spiritual responsibility, Oyedepo concluded with a call to self-reflection:
“Over to you, you better wake up. Can I tell you something? Everybody’s a reflection of where he belongs. It’s time you start reflecting what happens in here.”
Bishop Oyedepo’s message stirred both inspiration and conviction, emphasizing the importance of aligning personal resources with divine purpose and leaving behind a legacy of meaningful service.
