A Nigerian man living with epilepsy has shared a distressing experience of being turned away from his home by his father because of his medical condition.

In a TikTok video, the man explained that after suffering an epileptic episode, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. However, when he returned home, his father would not allow him inside.

He said his father told him, “I’m claiming to know more than him, that I should go and fight my battle myself.” According to the man, his father insisted that he was “old enough” to handle his problems independently.

The man revealed that he sought help from a church his father attends, hoping the pastor would intervene, but his father remained firm in his stance. He also reported the situation to the police, who invited his father to the station, yet the father still refused to let him back into the house.

In his own words, the man said: “After leaving the hospital, I went back home. When I got home, my dad refused to let me enter. He said I’m claiming to know more than him, that I should go and fight my battle myself.”

He continued, “He said I’m old enough. I literally told him I’m battling a chronic condition and how do you expect me to fight all the battles myself? He was like, ‘That’s your business, go fight your battles yourself.’”

The video has drawn widespread attention online, with many people commenting to share their sympathy and support.

I left the hospital and went back to my dad’s house. He denied me entry. I was stranded, helpless, and homeless. My friend calmed me down. Rented a hotel. Told me to rest first, we’d figure things out. When I felt better, I took the matter to his church. No success. To the police — and they begged me to go back to the same church that chained me. Told me “my dad means well”… and that I should wait for a miracle. #epilepsyawareness#chronicillness #FamilyRejection #DisabilityRights @aprokodoctor @VDM @Don Jazzy @asherkine @Instablog9ja
