Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable Zazu, is a Nigerian music star, composer, and producer. Portable became a music superstar after releasing his debut hit track, Zazu Zeh, starring Pocolee and YBNL president Olamide, in December 2021.

The Yoruba rapper immediately became a household name as the Zazu Zeh chorus and dancing movements gained popularity.

Since its debut on December 14, 2021, the song has received more than 6 million views on YouTube. It wasn’t long before Portable, 30, shared the stage with Tiwa Savage, the singer of “Somebody Son.”

Portable played alongside Tiwa Savage at the Livespot X performance on Friday, December 17, 2021. Following the show, Portable faced his first major industry criticism.

Habeeb Okikiola, sometimes known as Portable Zeh, was born on March 12, 1994, to Mr. and Mrs. Okikiola’s family. Portable is a native of Ogun State, Nigeria, and was raised in a Muslim household alongside his siblings.

However, very little is known about the young rapper’s educational history. Portable Zazu decided to pursue a musical career after hearing songs by Nigeria’s best rappers, such as Lord Of Ajasa, Dagrin, Danny Young, Olamide, QDot, CDQ, and others. Portable Zazu left his village for Lagos to pursue his goal of creating Yoruba rap songs.

Portable’s music career began at a young age, but he rose to prominence in December 2021 with the release of his debut single, “Zazu Zeh” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. Portable migrated to Lagos, which was a watershed moment in his musical career. His meeting with his music idol, Olamide, helped him get international attention. Portable Awards and Endorsement Deals

Portable, like other notable Nigerian performers, has received multiple awards and nominations.

In 2022, Portable was nominated for Best Street Artist and Rookie of the Year. Portable earned accolades for Best New Artist and Artist of the Year in 2023. Portable was also recognized with a Grammy nomination in 2025.

Aside from garnering accolades and nominations, Portable has inked sponsorship relationships with major businesses, including Odogwu Bitters, owned by Obi Cubana, and Sujimoto, a Nigerian construction company.

Portable Zazu News Today: Controversy

Portable was imprisoned in the Okuara Correctional Center in Lauren, the Quir state capital, on April 14, 2025, after failing to meet his bail conditions. The court had given him bail on a charge of defamation of character, but he had to provide two sureties. Portable appeared in court on this charge, and the judge determined that he should be released on bail for one million Naira, but the release was predicated on his presenting two sureties in Likesome.

Portable was detained by the Ogun State Police Command for failing to comply with a 72-hour deadline to present himself in connection with an alleged assault, as stated in a police invitation. Portable was charged in the early hours of Monday, April 3, 2023, in the Ifo High Court in Ogun state.

On February 18, 2025, Portable was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. He surrendered to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, Lagos.

Portable drags Poco Lee for song hijacking and theft

Following his climb to popularity, he acquired the faith of street music fans. Portable began to play on many stages and make money as a young rapper, but it appeared that the increased media attention stirred something in him.

The first incident took place on December 17, 2022, at the Livespot conference. Portable Zazoo accused Nigerian dancer Poco Lee of attempting to swindle him and deprive him of his hard-earned money. The Ogun singer stated that Poco Lee took all of the money Wizkid showered him with on stage, which was around $3000, and gave him only $600.

He also claimed that Poco Lee had hijacked and taken credit for his smash single, “Zazoo Ze,” which was released on December 14, 2021. The song credit listed Poco Lee as the owner, with Portable and Olamide as featured acts.

The hip-hop street rap musician explained everything in an internet video. His social media rant enraged his event promoter, Kogbagid, who demanded that Portable leave the label’s property, where he lives.

Kogbagidi expressed his unhappiness with Portable’s “unruly” behavior and that he was ashamed by the incriminating footage that spread online.

In an unexpected turn of events, Portable Zazoo apologized to Poco Lee, Olamide, and Kogbagidi for causing so much trouble; he stated they were his benefactors and sought their forgiveness. The video of the reconciliation instantly became viral.

However, Portable was only getting started in the controversial cases he would put himself in.

Portable allegedly sexually raped a lady in Kenya.

On January 21, 2022, Portable Zazoo and his crew traveled to Nairobi, Kenya, for the “Portable Zazoo Reloaded Show” and allegedly sexually assaulted and harassed several women.

The event was reported by Maureen Imbai, a Kenyan radio personality known as Black Cinderella. According to Maureen, the musician and his team invited the girls to sleep over at their home, but the victims declined.

The victims’ refusal enraged the crew, who allegedly harassed and falsely accused the women involved of attempting to steal the singer’s precious belongings.

Portable has apologized for the incident. Shortly after the allegations, the 27-year-old musician was seen causing trouble, this time with his management.

Portable exits Kogbagidi’s label.

In another incident in Ota, Ogun State, Portable was once again embroiled in a street fight, despite security personnel’s fruitless attempts to break it up.

The security personnel attempted to take Portable from the incident area, but he refused to leave. Later, he left the premises.

According to accounts, the brawl broke out when he left the record company run by show promoter Quadri Taoreed, alias Kogbagidi.

Portable had called out Kogbagidi for monetary disagreements, siphoning gifts from followers, and other issues that had strained his connection with him.

Following the hoopla surrounding the brawl, as shown in a viral video, Kogbagidi posted a mysterious statement online.

The message referred to “pig fights.” Declaring that getting into a fight with pigs always ends with both parties in the mud.

Portable’s mindset has pushed more boats toward unsuccessful interactions with others. Portable’s second management team was ousted three months after Kogbagidi was dismissed.

In a video created by the singer Portable Zazu, he complained about his management, DJ, and concert promoter’s continual demand for money and desire to prevent him from networking.

According to Portable Zazu, his manager, DJ, and performance promoter do not contribute to the advancement of his music career.

He revealed that he was exclusively responsible for their well-being and hence felt robbed of his hard-earned money.

Portable refused admission into Canada.

Portable was slated to appear as a guest musician at a show in Canada.

However, Morris, a Canadian-based Nigerian MC, stated that they opted to drop the artist due to his temperament.

According to the MC, Portable had fired two managers in less than a year, which was not a good omen, and he would no longer be performing in his show.

Morris revealed that he had written to immigration to refuse Portable’s visa application. Morris, real name Maurice Imadu, was supposed to organize the singer’s foreign events before their bitter feud.

Portable gets into fights during performances. Portable makes news again for his boxing series. According to reports, he allegedly battled with some Benin fans during a play in Edo State.

Portable nearly got into another brawl with a DJ at a club. The musician was upset with how the DJ treated his song.

Portable in police problems for his “One Million Boys” comment.

Portable’s loose-mouthed statement on July 18, 2022, mentioned a notorious criminal outfit, the One Million Boys, which he claimed to have established.

In a video he released, he claimed to be the creator of a cult that loots, maims, and assaults its victims. In a fast response, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police initiated an investigation into the singer.

Following the police investigation, Portable withdrew his remark, claiming that one million boys were his fans.

Portable and Akpi Boxing Match

Earlier this year, Portable and Speed Darlinton, popularly known as Akpi, engaged in a fistfight after a boxing contest. Their problems began on social media when Akpi was enraged at Portable’s unwillingness to perform in his performance for N500,000.

Portable, who was humiliated by the offer, turned to social media to express his outrage. After a lot of internet punches, both parties resolved to settle their argument in a boxing bout, with Portable emerging victorious. It was previously said that Burna Boy promised Portable a sum of 20 million naira if she beat Akpi; this was owing to the bad blood that Akpi had with Burna Boy over the Diddy issue.
