A 79-year-old Nigerian woman broke down in tears as she shared her heartbreaking story of being brought to the United States with the hope of a better future, only to be exploited as a nanny for seven months without receiving any payment.
Her story was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by user @dammiedammie35, along with a photo of the elderly woman.
She explained that she worked as a nanny for seven months, caring for three children, while the man she worked for left the house at 5 a.m. and returned at 10 p.m. daily.
Despite her hard work, she said she was never paid a single penny.
In her own words: “He was using me and making me suffer. I took care of his three children while he left at 5 a.m. and returned at 10 p.m.”
“She owes me seven months’ salary at $850 per month. He told me that starting from June, if there were no complaints about me, he would increase my pay to $1,100. But today, he sent me away without giving me anything.”
The post quickly gained attention, with many people expressing outrage and offering support to the elderly woman in the comment section.
