Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Doyin David, has spoken out against the tendency of some men to immediately sexualize women upon meeting them.
During a recent appearance on Thanks For Coming, a dating-focused talk show hosted by Grand Prince Ita, Doyin criticized the common behavior among men who, without even knowing a woman, begin to imagine what it would be like to sleep with her.
“Most times when a guy meets a girl, it’s very easy for them to sexualize her. What’s sex going to look like with this person, without getting to know the person. Sex is important to me, but I’m a whole human being outside of my vagina,” she said.
She further addressed the difficulties of dating in Nigeria, revealing that she hasn’t been in a relationship for several months because the dating scene has become increasingly stressful for both genders.
“It’s been a minute, to be honest. A couple of months ago. Dating in Nigeria these days is extreme sports. It’s hectic,“ she added. However, she said she’s open to being emotionally vulnerable, but only with someone who genuinely deserves it. I will be submissive for the right man,” Doyin said.
On what she looks for in a partner, Doyin emphasized the importance of listening. For her, a man who truly hears her concerns and adjusts his behavior is a major green flag.
“Do I feel like you listen to me? When I complain about something, do you make changes? That’s it for me,” she concluded.
