Clinic Threatens Lady With Jail After Acne Treatment Leaves Permanent Scars

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share her distress after reportedly suffering permanent facial scars following a procedure at Hello Perfect Aesthetic & Laser Clinic.

She claims that instead of offering support, the clinic is now threatening her with legal action and possible imprisonment.

User @iamthelma_ posted her story on X (formerly Twitter), explaining how she reached out to the clinic in 2023 looking for a permanent solution to her acne-prone skin.

However, her experience allegedly left her emotionally hurt, physically scarred, and caught up in legal threats.

In a detailed thread, she said she initially discovered the clinic through Instagram, attracted by their polished before-and-after photos and positive reviews.

After paying ₦30,000 for a virtual consultation, she was given a treatment plan that included both facial acne and underarm treatments—something she now sees as the first warning sign.

Despite doubts, she went ahead with the plan, visiting the clinics in Abuja and Lagos between September and November 2023.

During her second session in Lagos, she was introduced to a laser resurfacing treatment, which was described with glowing assurances but no mention of a necessary depigmentation treatment afterward.

She recalled feeling a burning sensation during the procedure, which staff dismissed as normal.

More worryingly, she said the clinic replaced the 4% hydroquinone cream with a 10% formula without her knowledge, a much stronger concentration.

She noted that no one followed up after her treatments. When she sent progress photos in December, she was told to keep using the cream and was later informed she would need depigmentation treatment in January.

The situation worsened when she found out the clinic posted her laser treatment on Instagram Stories without her consent or checking the outcome.

A friend intervened to have the posts removed, but she received no apology or further communication.

By January, she lost trust in the clinic and canceled her appointments, receiving no follow-up or concern.

She claims that after suffering for over two years, she quietly posted a video on TikTok in April 2025, prompting the clinic to reach out.

What was described as a “virtual review” turned into an interrogation, with the clinic’s CEO explaining the cost of their equipment and suggesting laser treatments are made to sound intense to “scare people off”—something she insists didn’t happen in her case.

After the call, she involved her lawyer. The clinic ignored the first legal letter but later denied her claims and threatened legal action—including a possible two-year jail sentence—if she spoke publicly.

She wrote: “I’ve stayed silent for too long. Because this scar is not just physical, it’s emotional, and it’s public. Hello Perfect failed me. They hurt me. And they tried to silence me.”

She ended by urging others with similar experiences to speak up: “To every Nigerian who has suffered from any aesthetic clinic or medical negligence, you are not alone. Speak up. Demand better. Let’s protect each other from silence.”
