Nollywood actor and former Anambra governorship candidate, Yul Edochie, has shared his reflections on the nature of political relationships during elections.
In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Yul recounted his experience during his bid for the governorship of Anambra State. He revealed that despite the heated nature of politics, the contestants, including the incumbent governor, maintained cordial relationships throughout the process.
According to him, there was no hostility or personal animosity among the candidates themselves. Instead, he observed that the real tension and animosity came mostly from their supporters.

“When I ran for Governor of Anambra in 2017, I noticed something.
All the governorship candidates were all friendly, including the sitting Governor.
The few times we all met, there was always mutual respect in the air amidst jokes.
Funny, na the supporters dey fight up & down.”
His comments have sparked conversations about the performative nature of political rivalries and the divisive behavior of some political fan bases.
