Former federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has clapped back at veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, following criticism over his extravagant lifestyle.
Charly Boy recently took a jab at the ex-senator after a video of Melaye describing himself as a “limited edition” went viral. The entertainer mocked Melaye for frequently flaunting wealth and suggested that such behavior could be masking deeper emotional struggles.
“Not all mental illnesses are noticeable,” Charly Boy commented, implying the senator’s actions might reflect unresolved internal issues.
In a fiery video response shared on his social media pages on Thursday, Melaye didn’t hold back. He accused Charly Boy of attempting to revive his relevance by attacking him.
“Charly Boy is trying to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside a freezer,” Melaye said mockingly.
The former senator also ridiculed the activist’s living situation, claiming, “I heard he has a leaking roof but he has no money to fix it. He places a whole big bike in front of his house like a statue and doesn’t see that as a show-off.”
Melaye ended the video with a caption that read: “Boda agbaya..Charly Boy. Bad son of a good father. Egungun wey dey climb okada. Be careful.”
Known for his flamboyance and luxury car collection, Dino Melaye, who represented Kogi West in the 8th National Assembly, is no stranger to controversy, often drawing attention for his lifestyle choices shared online.
