- Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod and EeZee Global Conceptz Limited have reaffirmed their commitment to full legal compliance after pleading not guilty to charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
- Eezee Tee has been charged with alleged foreign exchange regulations breaches and non-disclosure of certain transactions between 2022 and 2023, replacing earlier fraud allegations related to gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s earnings.
Gospel music executive Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as EeZee Tee, and his company, EeZee Global Conceptz Limited, have pleaded not guilty to newly filed charges brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges, which were presented at the Federal High Court in Lagos on May 7, 2025, focus on alleged breaches of foreign exchange regulations and non-disclosure of certain business transactions between 2022 and 2023.
These fresh charges replace previous fraud allegations linked to gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s earnings, which had been the subject of earlier legal scrutiny. During the proceedings, EeZee Tee’s legal representative, Chief Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), clarified that the new matter is purely a regulatory issue and unrelated to the ongoing contractual dispute with Mercy Chinwo. Ojukwu stressed that EeZee Tee has fully cooperated with authorities and maintained transparency throughout the investigation.
“This case now focuses on technical regulatory compliance matters, not fraud or misappropriation as was previously alleged and dismissed,” Ojukwu explained. He also noted that discussions are still ongoing toward reaching a peaceful resolution.
The EFCC’s updated eight-count charge centers on transactions amounting to $397,106, alleging that EeZee Global Conceptz conducted foreign exchange transactions without authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria and failed to report specific earnings to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML). EeZee Tee has strongly denied all of these allegations.
The court has postponed its ruling on EeZee Tee’s bail to May 9, 2025. Meanwhile, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted a request for EeZee Tee to remain under the custody of his legal counsel.
After the hearing, an attempt was made by EFCC operatives to rearrest EeZee Tee at the courthouse entrance. However, the situation was swiftly de-escalated with the intervention of a senior EFCC official, and EeZee Tee was allowed to leave the court premises without further issues. The case now awaits a court ruling on his bail application.
