Man criticizes Gov Adeleke for pardoning man sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for stealing fowl

  • Ridwan Oke, an X user, has criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for pardoning a man who was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for stealing a fowl.
  • Oke confirmed the convicted suspect’s armed robbery conviction and emphasized the clear punishment for such crimes in a tweet.
  • Governor Adeleke has ordered the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State to initiate a thorough investigation and grant mercy to a young man.

An X user, known as Ridwan Oke, has expressed his disapproval of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to pardon an individual who received a 14 years imprisonment sentence for fowl theft.

In a tweet posted on Wednesday, Oke pointed out that the individual in question was convicted of armed robbery, emphasizing that the legal framework is unequivocal regarding the penalties for such crimes.

It is noteworthy that Governor Adeleke had instructed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State on Tuesday to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the case and to begin the process of granting clemency to the young man.

Oke, however, contended that the prosecution successfully established its case, fulfilling all necessary elements to substantiate the charge, and asserted that the judge’s decision to impose the death penalty was justified.

He further argued that any individual who employs a cutlass and a firearm to commit robbery, regardless of whether the target is a fowl or a pencil, poses a lethal threat.

“Except you actually want to pardon everyone who has been found guilty of armed robbery, the law is clear as to the punishment for Armed robbery.

“The Prosecution proved their case along with every ingredients necessary to prove the offence and the Judge was right to convict them and sentence them to death. The offence was committed using a cutlass and a Gun.

“Anyone using a cutlass and a Gun to commit robbery whether to steal a fowl or a pencil is capable of killing for that fowl or pencil if they found anyone in their way and that’s exactly what would have happened to the owner of the house they robbed if that one had been overpowered.
