Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has made a passionate pledge to fans after the club’s dramatic Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan.
The Catalans looked set for a famous comeback in Milan, overturning a 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 late on, only to suffer a crushing 4-3 extra-time loss that ended their European dream with a 7-6 aggregate defeat.
Yamal, one of the standout performers across the tie, took to Instagram to express his heartbreak and promise a return to Europe’s summit.
“We’ve given it all, this year it couldn’t be,” the 16-year-old wrote. “But we’ll be back — don’t have any doubt, culers.
“We won’t stop until we leave this club where it deserves, at the highest. I will fulfill my promise and bring it to Barcelona.”
Yamal also shifted focus to this weekend’s El Clasico showdown, calling it “another final” in the race for domestic glory.
Teammate Raphinha, who scored the third goal in the second leg, echoed the sentiment: “We will come back stronger… Every day that passes, I am more proud to wear these colours.”
Hansi Flick’s side now turn their attention to La Liga, with Sunday’s clash against Real Madrid crucial in their pursuit of a domestic double.
The gap stands at four points, with Barcelona needing a statement win to keep title hopes alive.
