Controversial Nigerian preacher, Oba Solomon, has addressed his silence regarding the recent arrest of social media personality, Verydarkman. The outspoken critic was taken into custody last Friday after accompanying his mother to a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) branch to file a complaint.
In a video shared online, Oba Solomon clarified that he has not yet called for Verydarkman’s release because he is waiting for official information from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“I cannot tell the government to release VDM until I know his offence. Nobody is above the law,” Solomon said, stressing the importance of due process.
He discouraged the public from making hasty accusations, particularly against GTBank, which some online users have blamed for the incident. Oba Solomon urged Nigerians to remain patient and wait for verified facts before forming opinions.
“Everybody should calm down and wait till Monday when the EFCC will release the official statement on why he was arrested. If they fail to do that, we can then swear for them,” he added, using his trademark blend of humor and criticism.
He concluded by acknowledging that the government has the authority to arrest individuals anywhere, emphasizing that more details are necessary before taking a stance.
Oba Solomon’s remarks highlight the need for caution and legal clarity in sensitive matters involving public figures and law enforcement.
