Nigerians have taken to the streets in a show of solidarity for the popular online personality, VeryDarkMan (VDM), whose recent arrest has sparked widespread outrage. Demonstrators are demanding the immediate release of VDM, holding signs and chanting for his freedom.
The protest was captured in a video that quickly went viral on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where one of the protesters was heard addressing the crowd, calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release VDM. “EFCC, if you’re the one that arrested VDM, free him,” the individual shouted, with a chorus of voices echoing the demand for his release.
VeryDarkMan, who was reportedly detained outside a GTBank branch, is believed to have been arrested after visiting the bank with his mother to file a complaint regarding an unauthorized transaction on her account. Witnesses claim that he was apprehended immediately after leaving the bank, though the exact agency responsible for his detention remains unclear.
As news of the arrest spread, supporters of VDM flooded both social media and the streets to demand justice. The video of the protest has since gained significant traction, with many expressing their concerns in the comments section, fueling calls for transparency and accountability.
